Carbide Milling Tools | Indexable Milling Inserts

 

Kingdon Carbide Milling Tools are indexable inserts built for intermittent-cut regimes-face milling, 90° shoulder milling, slotting, ramping, contour profiling and high-feed roughing on CNC machining centers, knee mills and boring-mill conversions. Milling is not turning: every edge strikes and leaves the work cyclically, so the insert lives or dies on impact toughness, flank-heat management and pocket-seat repeatability. Our milling line uses fine- to medium-grain WC substrates with PVD TiAlN/TiCN (steel & stainless) or CVD Al₂O₃-based (cast iron) coatings, precision ground to ISO 3365 / ISO 1832 insert tolerances.

Covered geometries: APMT​ (positive 90° shoulder, 4-edge), RPKW / XNMP​ (positive square/rhombic, face & profile), WNEX / NWEX-style wavy​ (high-feed end milling), SNC​ (button/round-edge high-feed), LNE​ (linear high-feed double-sided). All fit standard global cutter bodies (Kennametal-, Iscar-, Sandvik-pocket equivalents).

Why Milling Inserts Are Specified Differently

Cyclic impact > steady wear: edge hone + T-land tuned per grade to stop micro-chipping at entry/exit, especially in stainless and alloy steel.

  • Multiple usable edges: APMT gives 4 corners, double-sided square gives 8, SNC/LNE give 2–4 robust edges-cost-per-edge is the buyer's real unit, not cost-per-insert.
  • Cutter-body synergy: same insert code behaves differently in 90° shell mill vs 20° high-feed cutter; ZZKD quotes insert + recommended lead angle + DOC window, not isolated SKU.
  • Chip evacuation under flood or dry: positive rake + open chip chamber prevents nested "bird-nest" chips in slotting and deep shoulder passes.
  • Material-driven grade map: P/M-class PVD for steel, M-class PVD for 304/316/17-4PH, K-class CVD for gray/ductile iron, N-polished uncoated for Al/Cu/Brass.

Typical Applications

Mold base face & cavity roughing, machine-tool slideways, hydraulic manifolds, flange facing, gearbox housings, brake disc rotor surfaces, pipe-end facing, aerospace bracket profiling, batch parts on twin-column VMCs. Wet or dry, high-rpm or low-rpm rigid setups.

  • Grade recommendation by cutter type + material + DOC, not just ISO code: tell us APMT1604 in 90° shell mill, 45# steel, 2 mm DOC → we return grade + chipbreaker + speed/feed starting point.
  • OEM/ODM: laser mark, neutral box or private label, mixed-series starter kit (APMT+RPKW+SNC) for distributor shelf.
  • Free 6-piece sample set (2 grades × 3 geometries) for VMC test; FOB Zhuzhou/Shanghai, repeat-lot lead time quoted with MOQ.
