Steel turning is one of the most fundamental and frequent operations in metalworking, and insert selection directly impacts machining efficiency, per-part cost, and delivery reliability. Our General Turning Inserts for Steel are built on ultra-fine grain tungsten carbide substrates with advanced CVD/PVD multi-layer coatings, engineered specifically for turning carbon steel, alloy steel, tool steel, and cast steel - covering the full range from roughing to finishing operations.

Advantages
Wear Resistance and Tool Life, Elevated Together The CVD coating system (MT-TiCN + ultra-fine Al₂O₃) forms a dense protective layer in the high-temperature cutting zone, effectively suppressing flank wear and crater wear. The PVD coating (TiAlN) adds edge toughness and resistance to built-up edge formation. The two coating families cover high and medium-low cutting speed ranges respectively, keeping tool life stable under both continuous and interrupted cuts.
Substrate Design Balancing Toughness and Hardness The carbide substrate is engineered through optimized cobalt content and grain size distribution, maintaining high hardness while improving resistance to plastic deformation. Roughing grades prioritize toughness to absorb impact; finishing grades prioritize hardness for maximum wear resistance - customers can select by application condition.
Chip Control for Machining Safety Multiple chip-breaker geometries (finishing, semi-finishing, and roughing types) paired with appropriate feed and depth of cut deliver reliable chip breaking, preventing long chips from tangling around the workpiece or stalling the machine - especially critical for automated production lines and unattended machining.
Surface Quality and Efficiency, Optimized in Tandem Wiper geometry enables improved surface finish at standard cutting parameters, or maintained finish at substantially higher feed rates - shortening cycle time per part without compromising quality.
