Tungsten is a metallic element with the chemical symbol W and atomic number 74. It possesses numerous remarkable physical properties, particularly its high melting point and high density, which make it stable under a wide range of extreme conditions. Its melting point, at 3410°C, is one of the highest of any metal, meaning it can remain solid at extremely high temperatures and is difficult to melt. Tungsten also possesses excellent ductility, allowing it to be drawn into thin wires or beaten into thin sheets.
